“Skincare is for everyone, regardless of gender.”
Why waxing services don’t apply to any gender norms
Here’s a trade secret: Men’s self-care is on a fast moving incline, and it’s long overdue. Industry predictions say the men’s skincare market will reach $16 billion globally by 2026. And men’s personal care is predicted to double in value by 2030. Both point to what’s now common knowledge. Skincare is for everyone, regardless of gender.
Just look at Millennials and Gen Z. Combined, they hold significant spending power. And for the most part, they don’t subscribe to binary genders. To them, gender is fluid. Not unlike how we approach services at Waxing the City.
What does all this research say? It’s high time we shed a light on how men can take care of the skin they’re in after decades of giving women the most attention. Survey says men are just as in need of skincare services as anyone. At Waxing the City we know wax doesn’t know gender. Neither do our lines of fantastic skincare products. Skincare doesn’t apply to a one-size-fits-all approach. Our services and products are for everyone.
As we level out the playing field for all our customers, we want to highlight some need-to-know facts about getting the best wax possible. Here are our top 5 tips for prepping your skin before you come in.
- Hair should be at least a quarter- to a half-inch long for best results.
- Schedule a waxing treatment every 4 to 5 weeks to keep up with hair growth and prevent regrowth long term.
- Don’t shave before your appointment.
- Don’t shave in between appointments.
- We suggest not taking a bath or shower immediately before your wax appointment.
If you’re just dipping a toe into skincare and want to set your skin up for success before you come in to get waxed, we suggest trying out a few products first. Here are a few of our favorites. They’ll work for anyone, regardless of age or gender.
- Lalicious Sugar Scrubs: Any waxer knows they need to exfoliate before their appointment. Lalicious sugar scrubs will smooth and prep your skin. Made from pure cane sugar, they’re a natural solution to giving your skin a good scrub. They’re ultra hydrating, thanks to a blend of coconut and sweet almond oil. Regular usage will prevent ingrown hairs.
- Bakuchiol: Traditional retinols can make your skin sensitive to waxing. We suggest trying our plant-based alternative, Bakuchiol, so you can maintain a regular wax schedule while continuing to target fine lines, wrinkles or uneven skin tone.
- Minimo Face Scrubs: Using a mixture of natural and effective ingredients like turmeric, cinnamon, raw honey, chamomile extract, lemon extract and moisturizing oils; this face scrub will give your skin a natural glow without being too harsh.
